The world’s leading software provider Microsoft has agreed to provide Hoang Anh Gia Lai (HAGL) with the right to allow 250 of its staff to install and use Microsoft Office Professional 2007, as well as any new versions of Microsoft Office released during the next three years.
An enterprise agreement to this effect was signed in Ho Chi Minh City on December 3, making HAGL the first private corporation in Vietnam to standardise its IT system with fully-licensed software provided by Microsoft.
Under the terms of the agreement, HAGL employees will also have the right to legally use Microsoft Office Professional 2007 at home.
Microsoft Vietnam and CMC Corporation, Microsoft’s authorised dealer in Vietnam , will provide support, consultation services and training for HAGL’s employees on IT infrastructure optimisation, operation management and secure information-sharing.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, HAGL Deputy General Director Vo Truong Son said the agreement has created a new opportunity for HAGL to improve the effectiveness of its IT system and create competitive advantages in the domestic and international markets.
Emilio Umeoka, President of Microsoft Asia Pacific, expressed his hope that an increasing number of businesses will follow this example and comply with Vietnam’s intellectual property laws to help nurture a strong IT and business environment whilst improving their competitiveness in the international market.
