More than US $8 billion worth of foreign investment has been attracted to Ho Chi Minh City in the first 9 months of this year, according to the City’s Department of Investment and Planning.
The figure, of which new investment accounts for US $7.83 billion, is 6 fold higher than the same time last year and is one of the highest levels in the past several years.
Malaysia topped the investment list with the largest project, worth US $3.5 billion, to build an urban area with Berrjaya International University.
Other noteworthy projects are the Thu Thiem Software Park with an investment of US $1.2 billion and a financial center in Prefecture No.10 with US $930 million.
Most investment was funneled into real estate, information technology, finance and industry.
