Haiphong DAP Fertiliser Plant to be operational in late Sep

The Viet Nam Chemicals Corporation on August 22 launched a drive to speed up construction of the Haiphong DAP Fertiliser Plant. Awards worth totalling VND 1 billion will be presented to those contractors that have successfully managed to fulfill their assigned work soon.

The corporation, investor of the plant, target to put to the plant in trial operation in late September and the first batch of fertiliser is scheduled to be turned out in late November 2008.

Construction of the US$173 million plant was launched in July 2003. Upon its completion, it is capable of producing 330,000 tonnes of diammonia phosphate fertilizer, 414,000 tonnes of sulfuric acid and 161,700 tonnes of phosphoric acid a year. In addition, the project's thermo electric power plant is designed to have a capacity of 12MW.
