Vietnam – US trade turnover surges

In the first four months of this year, the total two-way trade turnover between the US and Viet Nam reached 4.72 billion USD, an increase of 37% year on year, according to figures released by the US Department of Commerce (DoC).

Vietnam’s export turnover to the US market increased by 22% against the same period last year and US’s commodity and service export turnover in Vietnam increased by 133.4%.

Vietnam’s major export commodities to US market include garments and textiles, wooden products, footwear, agricultural and aquatic products.

Major commodities imported from US in Viet Nam market include vehicles, mechanical machines and equipments, aircraft and air spare parts, steel and iron, plastic, meat and products from meat, powder from fruits, cotton and cattle foodstuff.

The two-way trade turnover between the two countries is scheduled to reach more than 15 billion USD by 2008. (Tien Phong)
