Honor awards for IT retailers

Vietnam’s top five information communication technology retailers were honored Monday in Ho Chi Minh City at the presentation of the 10th Viet Nam ICT Gold Medal and Viet Nam ICT Cup 2008.

Phong Vu Service Trading Co. and Hoan Long Computer Joint Stock Co. were awarded ICT Gold Medals in the new Gold Medal for Retailers category.

In the ICT Cup’s top five retailers, Phong Vu was also ranked first, followed by Hoan Long, Anh Phuong Computer Service Trade Co. Ltd., NOVA Trade Co. Ltd, and the Thanh Nhan Computer Co. Ltd.

To enter these competitions, retailers had to have a turnover greater than VND300 billion (US$18 million) excluding wholesale and project sales.

The total revenue of the top five companies last year was VND14 trillion ($832 million), accounting for nearly 50 percent of the whole country’s ICT retail turnover.

A total of 19 companies vied for honors in the Vietnam ICT Gold Medal 2008, while 35 companies competed for the ICT Cup 2008.
