US investor mulls building giant film studio near Hue

An American investment group is considering building a “film city” in Thua Thien Hue Province and has three months to file an application for license.

Galileo Investment Group hopes to set up the facility along the Bu Lu River, Chan May Urban area, and Chan May – Lang Co Economic Zone’s Hoi Mit and Hoi Dua areas.

The economic zone authorities will help the US firm with making surveys of the area and other things.

In unrelated news, the province has granted a license to Singapore’s Banyan Tree Group to build an international-class tourism and service complex at an investment of US$875. The 300-hectare complex will come up in the zone’s Loc Vinh commune.

To be built in four stages, the complex will have seven luxury hotels with a total of 2,000 rooms, conference, exhibition, and shopping facilities and more. It is expected to be ready in 2014. (Sai Gon GP)
