Tien Giang invests in aqua-culture

The southern province of Tien Giang will invest VND35 billion (US$2.1 million) to develop its aquaculture industry up to 2010.

A VND2.6 billion ($162,687) irrigation system that serves a 230ha area is already up and running in Ly Quang village. Phu Thanh commune has received VND17.8 billion ($1.1 million) to upgrade its 148ha breeding farm, and Tan Hoi commune in Cai Lay district has spent VND4.4 billion ($275,000) on a 70ha aquaculture farm.

A VND11 billion ($687,500) project to upgrade Co Lich hatchery has also borne results.
