A Taiwanese investor has been licensed to invest US $4.5 million to build a footwear factory on a total area of 20,000 square metres in Do Son Industrial Park in the northern port city of Haiphong.
Mr Pham Thuyen, head of the Haiphong Export Processing and Industrial Zones Authority (HEPIZA) presented the investment licence to Mr Tu Tasung, CEO of the Nan 1 Vietnam Footwear Company on June 23.
The project has a duration of 40 years. The factory specialises in producing 350 tonnes of shoetrees and 150 tonnes of other parts of shoes annually. All the products are for exports.
Construction of the factory is scheduled to start in July and the factory is to scheduled to be operational in the year-end, providing jobs for 300 workers.
