A seminar entitled "Viet Nam - the Commercial Gateway in Asia" was held in Santiago, the capital of Chile, on June 23 to introduce to Chilean investors about business opportunities in Viet Nam.
The seminar was organised by the Viet Nam Embassy and Viet Nam Trade Office in Chile, in co-ordination with the Chilean National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism (CNC) and the Export Promotion Bureau (ProChile), an agency under the Foreign Ministry's Directorate General for International Economic Relations.
Representatives from CNC, ProChile, other Chilean ministries and sectors and more than 100 Chilean businessmen participated in the event.
Addressing the seminar, CNC President Pedro Corona Bozzo stressed the position of Viet Nam, a new tiger which is developing strongly in the region and called upon Chilean businesses to promote relations with Vietnam. He also pledged that CNC will be ready to act as a bridge to link partnerships between enterprises of the two countries.
Chilean businessmen to the seminar were provided with information about Vietnam, especially the incentives given to foreign investors by the Vietnamese government and the potential that Viet Nam can offer.
According to Nguyen Van Tich, Vietnamese Ambassador to Chile, the two countries have been making preparations for negotiations for a free trade agreement between Viet Nam and Chile to facilitate bilateral economic and trade relations.
Vietnamese Trade Councellor to Chile Hoang Tuan Viet also introduced the "Viet Nam Trade Portal" at http://www.vietradeinchile.gov.vn to Chilean businessmen where they can update with necessary information about Viet Nam.
Chilean businessmen have shown their interest in business opportunities in Vietnam and expressed their intentions of shifting their business activities from other countries in Asia to Viet Nam, which is considered as among the most attractive market in the region.
